"Good morning, everyone! Today we're going to dive into some really important skills that people use in many different jobs every single day. Look at our slide deck, 'Measure, Sort, Fill!' [refer to Slide 1]."
"What comes to mind when you hear the words 'measure,' 'sort,' and 'fill'? Think about things you might do at home, or jobs you've seen people do."
[Pause for student responses. Encourage any connection to housework or local jobs.]
"Great ideas! We're going to explore exactly why these skills are so valuable. [refer to Slide 2] Measuring helps us get the right amount, sorting helps us organize things, and filling helps us put things where they belong. Can anyone think of a job where you might need to measure, sort, AND fill? Maybe a chef, a grocery store worker, or someone in a factory?"
"Exactly! These are real-world skills. Today, you'll be working independently on a task that uses all three of these. It's called a task box!"

"[refer to Slide 3] Your mission today is to complete your own task box. Each box has different items, but the goal is the same: to measure, sort, and fill accurately and independently. Before you start, let's go through an example together."
"I have a sample task box here. First, I'll look at my Student Task Sheet. This sheet tells me exactly what to do. My first step says: 'Measure 3 scoops of red buttons.' So, I find my red buttons and my scoop, and I carefully count out three level scoops. Then it says, 'Sort the blue beads into the small container.' So, I find the blue beads and the small container, and I carefully sort them in. Finally, 'Fill the large container with 5 measured cups of pom-poms.' I'll use my measuring cup and count out five cups of pom-poms into the large container."
"Notice how I read each instruction carefully and took my time. It's important to be precise and neat. Are there any questions about what I just demonstrated?"
