Announce
Call the word loudly and clearly. Use visual cues (pointing) if needed for level 1.

Wait for the student to select. Avoid prompting too early; let the visual search happen.

Reset
Ensure the device returns to the home screen if they navigated away. Ready for next word.
For Faster Students
Introduce "Double-Taps": Call two words in a row (e.g., "I Go"). They must hit both in sequence before the timer stops.
For Emerging Students
Focus on a smaller grid (4 icons). Use physical highlighting (sticky notes) around the 10 target words on the screen to reduce visual clutter.

"Speed only counts if the sentence makes sense!"
PRO MOVES: The "Home" Hack
After you hit a fringe word, always Hit the Home Button immediately.
Why? Because your next word is usually back on the home screen. Don't get stuck in a folder!
