How to help them expand: Acknowledge that they have a good topic sentence and one piece of general evidence (birds and earthworms). Prompt them: "Can you find the name of the special seabird from Paragraph 3? What other strange animal lives up there and never touches the ground?"
Differentiating for Diverse Learners
