Core Metaphor

"Your brain is High-Speed RAM—it's great for processing, but terrible at storage. Your environment is your Hard Drive. Stop using RAM to store pens."

The Neural Hook

"The 20-Minute Leak."

Ask students: "Who has spent more than 10 minutes looking for a charger or a notebook this week?" Calculate the collective time lost in the room. Explain that this isn't just lost time; it's Decision Fatigue. By the time they find the tool, their "CEO" (PFC) is too tired to actually use it.

Environmental UX

Just like an app, a room has "User Experience." If the tools are hard to find, the user (the Brain) will bounce. We must engineer the room to reduce the "clicks" to start a task.

The external brain

The external brain consists of Systems (reminders/calendars) and Structures (labeled zones). The goal is to make thinking unnecessary for routine tasks.

Offloading RAM

Use the **Systems Slides** to explain why "remembering to bring your gym shoes" is an inefficient use of biological energy.

Facilitator Prompt:

"If you have to think about where your notebook is, your CEO is doing grunt work. CEOs don't file papers; they make decisions. Build a system that files the papers for you."

Phase 02

Workspace UX Audit (Activity)

Students use the **Activity Sheet** to identify "Friction Points" in their room.

Activity Goal: Point of Use

Teach the "Point of Use" rule: Tools should live exactly where they are used. If a student does homework on the dining table, their binder should live in a bin at the dining table, not in their bedroom.

Phase 03

Launchpad Design

Students sketch their "Launchpad"—a dedicated zone (usually by the door) where they "pre-load" everything for the next day.

Check for Mastery:

"Is your Launchpad visible? If it's inside a closet, the RAM won't recognize it. Systems must be 'High Signal' (Visual) to be effective."

Implementation Standards

The Digital External Brain

Physical organization is only 50% of the battle. Encourage students to adopt one of these digital RAM strategies:

The "Everything List" (Notes App)
The "Alarm Protocol" (Immediate reminders)
Digital File Hygiene (Naming folders)
The Inbox Zero (Clearing daily notifications)

System Architecture Rubric

Criteria	Exemplary	Developing
