My Professional Statement
"In my 15 years teaching third grade here in Arizona, I’ve learned how to design lessons that really connect with my eight- and nine-year-olds while fully meeting our state standards. I work hard to make our classroom a warm, welcoming space where kids know the rules and feel comfortable working together and speaking up. By using clear instructions and constantly checking in on their progress as we go, I'm able to guide them through tricky topics and make sure every student gets the support they need to succeed."
My Reflection by Rubric Domain
How I Plan & Prepare
Proficient
I plan lessons directly around Arizona's third-grade standards, making sure they match how eight- and nine-year-olds actually learn. I build practical, clear lessons that connect new ideas to what they already know, and I always design checkpoint assessments to see where they might need a little extra help.
How I Manage My Classroom
Proficient
I work hard to make our classroom feel like a warm, supportive family where we all respect each other's cultures and backgrounds. My kids know what's expected of them, so transitions are smooth and they can focus on working productively in their small groups.
How I Teach & Assess
Proficient
I focus on asking open-ended questions that get my third-graders talking to each other rather than just listening to me. I explain things in simple, creative ways, and I try to give honest, quick feedback so they always know how to improve their work.
