Lesson 5: Independent Transitioning Teacher Facing
Mission Objective
Students will execute a 2-station rotation (10 mins each) using only visual timers and schedule cues, with zero verbal prompts from the teacher.
Setup Checklist
Place 1 visual red-disk timer at each station.
Display the visual rotation map on the board.
Distribute "Station Scout Logs" to all students.
Pre-set teacher timer for 8:00 (warning signal).
Success Criteria
• Student initiates cleanup when disk hits 2 min.
• Student waits for beep to stand up.
• Student moves to next center without talking.
• Student begins next task immediately.
The Facilitation Protocol
The Warning
Instead of saying "2 minutes!", ring a chime once or flick the lights . Point to the timers. Do not speak.
The Switch
When the timer beeps, simply point to the Station Map . If a student is stuck, walk over and tap their log or point to the map. Use hand signals only.
Troubleshooting
What if they talk? Give the "quiet" hand signal. Point to the "Silent Challenge" slide. Do not engage in verbal correction unless safety is an issue.
