This guide provides prompts and questions to help you support your student through each step of creating their Planes 3 screenplay. Remember to encourage their creativity and focus on effort and participation.
General Tips
• Positive Reinforcement: Praise effort, original ideas, and brave attempts.• Flexibility: Allow for drawing and writing. If writing is challenging, focus on verbal explanations and drawing.• Sensory Needs: Be mindful of the student's sensory needs (quiet space, fidget tools).• Break it Down: If a step feels overwhelming, break it into even smaller parts.
Prompting Ideas
If the student gets stuck, try these:
"What is Dusty doing when the storm hits?"
"How does your new character help the team?"
"What colors do we see in the sunset race?"
"What is the most exciting part of the rescue?"
Flight Maneuvers (Step Guide)
Step 1: Characters
Ask: "If you were a plane, what special power would you have?" Use this to spark ideas for the new character's 'special skill'.
Step 3: The Problem
Help the student visualize the 'stakes'. Ask: "What happens if they don't fix the engine? Why is it important to win the race?"
Step 5: The Climax
Use sound effects! Ask the student to describe the noises (zoom, whir, crash) to make the big solution feel more alive and exciting.
Step 6: The Lesson
Relate it to real life. Ask: "Have you ever had to be brave or help a friend? How did that feel?"
