Students will be able to identify and differentiate between safe and unsafe situations and understand appropriate responses to each.

Preparation (10 Minutes)
Visuals & Tech Review the Slide Deck and ensure the projector/whiteboard is ready. Prepare the Game Spinner (digital or physical).
Printables Print and cut out the Scenario Cards. Ensure copies of the Cool Down Check-In are ready for each student.

Students share things that make them feel safe. Introduce definitions using slides.

Guided Practice: Scenario Sort
Small groups sort real-world scenarios into "Safe" and "Unsafe" piles. Review as a class.

Randomly selected scenarios are discussed using the spinner tool. Focus on the "Why."

Cool Down & Reflection
Students complete the individual check-in worksheet.
Teaching Instructions
Step 1: Introduction 5 MINUTES

Ask: "What is one thing that makes you feel safe?" (Examples: a blanket, a hug, a helmet).

Project Slides 1-2. Explain that today we are becoming "Safety Detectives" to tell the difference between safe and unsafe.
Step 2: Scenario Sort 15 MINUTES

Project Slide 3. Define Safe (feeling calm/protected) vs. Unsafe (feeling scared/in danger).

Hand out the Scenario Cards to small groups. Students read (or listen to) the situation and place it in the "Safe" or "Unsafe" pile.
Teacher Note: Circulate and ask: "Why do you think this is safe?" or "What would you do if this happened?"

Review as a class using Slides 4-7 to discuss specific examples together.
Step 3: Spinner Game 7 MINUTES

Use the Game Spinner tool. Spin and read the action aloud.

Students vote (thumbs up for safe, thumbs down for unsafe) and explain their reasoning.
Step 4: Wrap-Up 3 MINUTES
Have students complete the Cool Down Check-In sheet to reflect on their learning.

Instruction for Teachers
Cut out the SAFE and UNSAFE header boxes first and place them on the table or floor. Then, cut out each individual scenario card. Mix them up and have students place each card under the correct header.
