Section 1
The 10-Minute Whistle
Field Day is structured differently than a normal school day. Our class, the Daneau Class , will follow a specific schedule of 13 fun activities . Instead of staying in one place for a long time, we will move to a new station every 10 minutes .
Ten minutes goes by quickly! This means as soon as we start having fun at one station, the whistle will blow, and it will be time to pack up and travel to the next activity.
Transition Coping Tool
β’ The Whistle is Just a Clue: The loud whistle is a helpful signal, not a rush or a crisis. It tells us it is time to walk, breathe, and reset.
β’ Check It Off: I will check my schedule card or the big wall poster to see where we go next. Knowing what is coming next helps my brain feel safe.
β’ The 5-Second Pause: Before leaving a station, I will stop, take one deep breath, and gather my focus.
What I WILL Do
Walk calmly with my class, carry my visual schedule, and celebrate finishing an activity.
If I Feel Rushed
Tell my teacher: "I need a moment to transition." Take three deep breaths before walking.

Sensory Signals & Solutions
Wet Clothes & Splashing
Three specific stationsβPass Cup , Punctured Drum , and Drip Drop βinvolve playing with water. You might get wet, which can feel cold, sticky, or strange on your skin.
Action Plan: If getting wet feels bad, you can wear quick-dry clothing, keep a dry change of clothes in your locker, or ask your teacher to dry off with a towel immediately.
Loud Whistles & Cheering
The fields and playgrounds will be loud with cheers, yells, and referee whistles. This high energy is exciting for some, but it can feel overwhelming or distracting to others.
Action Plan: You are always allowed to wear noise-cancelling headphones, step slightly away from the center of the noise, or cup your hands over your ears.
Heat, Sun, and Movement
The sun and running around might make your body feel hot, sweaty, and tired. We have cooling-down stations, coloring time, and an ice cream break to help our bodies rest.
Action Plan: Drink water at every single rotation. Sit down during coloring or ice cream to let your heart rate slow down safely.

Section 3
My Coping Toolkit
On Field Day, some events are cooperative (like Parachute and Limbo ), while others are highly competitive (like Relay Races and Tug-O-War ).
It is natural to feel excited to win or disappointed if your team loses. However, the true victory is showing outstanding sportsmanship. If my team wins, I can say: "Great game everyone!". If my team does not win, I can say: "We tried our hardest, and that was fun!".
My Personal Field Day Plan
1. If I feel too wet, hot, or overwhelmed, I can tell my teacher:
2. Two calming strategies I will use if the whistle or noise is too loud:
Put on headphones
Take 3 belly breaths
Step to the shaded quiet zone
Get a cool drink of water
3. Something I am looking forward to testing or playing today:
