⭐ 4th-Grade Standard Exemplar (4 Sentences) Simplified Language • Clear Vocab
“When Ooky goes home, he should bring back the ideas of agriculture and domesticating animals. First, planting seeds will give his clan a steady food supply so they do not have to move around hunting. Second, raising tame animals like sheep and goats will give them fresh milk, warm wool, and meat right by their camp. These two Neolithic ideas will help his clan build permanent homes and live safely together.”
Sentence 1: Claim States the mission and names the 2 Neolithic ideas.
Sentence 2: Idea 1 Explains farming and why it stops dangerous hunting trips.
Sentence 3: Idea 2 Explains animal taming and gives clear benefits (milk, wool, meat).
Sentence 4: Conclusion Explains the big result: permanent homes and safety.
Alternative Model (5 Sentences - Agriculture & Pottery) Student Option 2
“Ooky should bring back the ideas of farming and making pottery to his clan. First, planting wheat gives them plenty of grain to eat every year. Second, clay pottery lets them store clean water and extra food safely. Having extra food means the clan will not go hungry during cold winters. These two ideas will help Ooky’s people settle down in one place forever.”
1. Agriculture (Farming)
Key Concept: People plant seeds (wheat, barley) instead of searching for wild food. This creates a steady food supply in one location.
2. Domesticating Animals
Key Concept: People tame animals (goats, sheep, cattle) to live near the village. Animals give renewable resources like milk, wool, and meat.
