[2:36] After "Phone Ban" bill: Ask: "If Congress passes this unfair bill, who has the power to stop it immediately?"
[3:37] After Veto: Ask: "Is the bill dead now? Can Congress do anything to fight back?"
[5:10] After Override: Ask: "The law is now passed, but it violates rights. Who is the final referee?"
[7:00] War Powers: Ask: "Why give the power to declare war to a group (Congress) rather than just one person (President)?"
Activity Guide: Government Triads
Group Up: Divide the class into groups of 3. Each student is assigned a role: Legislative, Executive, or Judicial.
The Scenario: Hand out one Scenario Card at a time. The card will state who "Makes the Move."
The Check: The other two members of the triad must decide if they have a "Check" to play.
Physical Metaphor: Use the Rock-Paper-Scissors hand gestures when playing a check (e.g., President gives a Veto gesture as "Rock" to crush the Legislative "Scissors").
