• Does Machiavelli's advice apply to a CEO or a Principal?
• Why do we often view "realism" as "cynicism"?
Facilitation Tips: The Prince's Cabinet
The Realists
Challenge them to think about public optics. Even if they choose a "harsh" action, how do they justify it to the people as being for their own safety? Remind them that Machiavelli hated unnecessary cruelty.
The Idealists
Challenge them on practical limitations. How will they feed 50,000 refugees if there is no food? Force them to move beyond "be nice" to structural "justice" solutions.
Differentiation Strategies
Scaffolding (IEP/ELL)
Provide a "Cheat Sheet" of Machiavelli quotes and Thomas More's principles. Use a simplified scenario card (Scenario Alpha).
