Plan Parade Themes (5 mins)
Focus: Introduction
Gather students on the circle rug. Display the helper slides and spark conversation.
Suggested Script: "Good morning, helpers! A parade is a giant, joyful party down the street to celebrate something wonderful. Today, we are marching to show everyone what awesome, kind citizens we are! What's one nice thing we do to take care of our classroom family? Let's choose our action!"

Create Banners/Props (10 mins)
Focus: Fine Motor & Identity
Transition to tables. Distribute "Float Banner Craft Activity." Support students in selecting their action (clean-up, sharing, greeting) and coloring. Guide kids to glue or tape paper banner to a stiff cardboard stick.
Pre-K Scaffolding Tip: Some learners may not write words. Help them use colored dots or pre-cut stamps to represent their action. Circulate and write down their specific action if requested (e.g. "I pick up blocks").

Conduct Hallway Parade (5 mins)
Focus: Large Motor & Celebration
Teach the "Parade March Rules" (keep a safe space behind friends, hold banners high). Play the marching song. Lead the parade around the room or a chosen corridor line. Use a cardboard megaphone to build excitement.
Action Cue: "Step, step, wave! Hold your magnificent banner up tall! Look at all these helpful classroom superheroes on parade!"

Showcase Speeches & Reflection (10 mins)
Focus: Language & Reflection
Seat the kids back in a giant circle (acting as the "grandstands"). Step into the middle one-by-one with the toy microphone to prompt each student to showcase their banner.
Showcase Prompt: "Here comes helper [Child's Name]! [Name], tell the crowd: How do you keep our classroom community happy and healthy?"
Pro-Tip for Busy Pre-K Environments
If hallway noise is an issue, conduct the parade inside the classroom with "hush bubbles" in mouths, doing a silly slow-motion silent march! Use the "Citizenship Showcase Checklist" to note down student observations on the go.

How to host: Roll up a piece of heavy paper or hold a toy megaphone. Speak with big, exaggerated energy! Encourage the children seated in the circle to act as a cheering audience, clapping and repeating helper chants.

📢 SAY TO THE CLASS (BIG BROADCASTER VOICE): "Gather 'round, classroom citizens! Roll out the welcome mats, because the most amazing, most helpful parade in the whole world is starting right now! Toot! Toot! Today, we are celebrating the superpowers of taking care of each other. Let's hear a cheer for our classroom helpers!"

Pre-K Adaptation Warning
Some children will simply hold up their banner and smile. That is perfect! Do a shared repeat-after-me: "Everyone say: Hooray for [Name] who cleans up blocks!" Let the class join the verbal celebration!
