A powerful king and conqueror . He led soldiers to take over many lands, including Persia and India.

A Greek city-state known for its warriors. Spartan life was very difficult, strict, and focused on physical training .

Greece's highest mountain. People believed the twelve most powerful gods and goddesses lived at the top .
Marathon
The site of a great battle. A messenger ran 26 miles to Athens to deliver news of victory, inspiring the marathon race !

Architecture: The Parthenon is a world-famous Greek building.
