Positive Reinforcement
The Definition:
Adding a desirable stimulus after a behavior to increase the likelihood of that behavior happening again.
"Reinforcement is not a bribe. It is the natural or planned consequence that strengthens a habit."
Key Examples:
Giving a treat after a dog sits.
Praising a student for a great answer.
Getting a bonus for meeting a goal.
Reinforcement vs. Punishment
Reinforcement
ALWAYS aims to increase a behavior.
"Positive" means adding something good.
"Negative" means removing something bad.
Punishment
ALWAYS aims to decrease a behavior.
It creates avoidance, not new skills.
If the behavior doesn't increase, it wasn't reinforcement.

How to Play: The Card Flip Challenge
Work in pairs: one Player, one Researcher.
Player flips cards from a deck one by one.
Researcher provides a "Reward" (a tally mark/token) based on the assigned schedule.
CRITICAL: After 20 rewards, the Researcher stops giving rewards without telling the player why.
The Player continues to flip until they "give up."

It's about TELLING, not just FEELING.
