Deliberately no standalone AI board policy. Guidance is integrated within the existing Responsible Use Policy now, transferring to the student handbook in 27/28.

Q1. How are we securing student data and managing safety?
Student data is completely protected. We block public access to standard commercial LLMs district-wide, with the sole secure exception of Gemini Notebook for high school students.
The Indiana Phone Law Advantage: Our state-mandated classroom cell phone ban has successfully eliminated personal-device access to unapproved, non-compliant third-party AI platforms during the school day.
Q2. How is student AI access scaled by grade level?
- Grades K–3: Foundational (No Direct Access) AI is 100% teacher-led. Students watch teachers generate learning materials, observing AI modeled as a "helper you must always double-check."
- Grades 4–6: Growing (Guided Hand-Off) Students transition to "guided → you do." Guardrails are highly enforced—focusing on academic integrity (the philosophy of "don't write it for me").
- Grades 7–12: Active (Independent & Accountable) Students utilize integrated curriculum tools like SchoolAI for personalized tutoring and interactive writing feedback. Users are accountable to disclose and critique all AI assistance.
Q3. How are we training our staff to adapt?
We have provided continuous PD since 2023, migrating from foundational AI awareness to "Teaching Students to Use Chatbots Wisely" (our 26/27 staff-wide theme).
Teachers use primary tools (Scriblit, Snorkl, Wayground, Brisk, Lenny.com) to build custom materials. Outstanding gaps in PD timing are being mitigated through a brand new non-certified staff training framework modeled after successful cafeteria staff pilots.
Q4. What real outcomes can we share with the public?
WIDA & EL Support Multilingual learners use monthly SchoolAI feedback cycles to hit key language metrics (such as target inflectional endings).
Rigorous Assessment All grades 7-8 students participate in quarterly, ILEARN-aligned secure writing prep cycles powered directly inside SchoolAI.
