Act I: Opening the Case & Warm-Up (10 Minutes)
Introduce students to their roles as "Rule Detectives." Hand out paper magnifying glasses if available. Activate background knowledge by asking: "What is a rule? Where do we have rules?"
Detective Hook: "Today, we have a giant mission. We have to examine two different rules and figure out how they are partners (similar) and how they are separate (different)!"

Act II: Examining the Clues - Modeling (15 Minutes)
Use the Slide Presentation to display Rule A: "Raise Your Hand to Speak" and Rule B: "Quietly Walk in the Hallway" . Define "similar" (same) and "different" (not the same) using visual cues (clapping hands and separating hands).
Draw a simple 2-column or Venn-style chart on the board. Model sorting observations:Similarities: Both help keep our school safe, fair, and quiet. Both require us to wait our turn.Differences: Rule A is for sitting inside the classroom; Rule B is for walking in the hallway.

Act III: Guided Investigation & Partner Work (10 Minutes)
Distribute the Rule Detectives Graphic Organizer . Project the next pair of rules from the slides: Rule C: "Listen to Others" and Rule D: "Keep Your Hands to Yourself."
Have students turn to a partner ("Detective Buddy") and discuss:How are these rules the SAME? (Both show respect, both keep our bodies and feelings safe).How are these rules DIFFERENT? (One is about how we listen with our ears; one is about how we keep our hands safe).

Act IV: Solving the Case & Exit Ticket (10 Minutes)
Distribute the Rule Detectives Exit Ticket . Students independently complete the simple 1-page form containing matching icons, a simple multiple choice question with consistent styling, and a fill-in-the-blank sentence frame.
Exit Ticket Criteria: Students must successfully identify one similarity (e.g., keeping us safe) and one difference (e.g., what body part we use) between two rules.

Provide physical props (real rules charts) to point to. Use sentence stems: "Both rules are similar because they keep us..." or "These rules are different because one is for..."
