Course Overview
We think, talk, and work like scientists every day. Students will ask questions, use evidence, explain thinking, revise ideas, analyze information, create models, and communicate clearly.
Units of Study
1 Unit 1 – Contact Forces
2 Unit 2 – Sound Waves
3 Unit 3 – Forces at a Distance
4 Unit 4 – Earth in Space
5 Unit 5 – Genetics
6 Unit 6 – Natural Selection and Common Ancestry
Student Responsibilities
Keep your science notebook organized and up to date. Use it for Do Nows, notes, diagrams/models, inquiry thinking, and reflections. Complete classwork and homework. Participate in discussions and activities. Use feedback to improve.

If Absent / Missing Work
Check the RPCC Website. Use the physical Science Notes Binder in class. Complete missing work and make up missed assessments as soon as possible.
Scientists In Our Classroom Are:
- Ready: Come prepared, bring materials, start class right away, and submit work on time.
- Respectful: Listen when others speak, do not talk over others, and treat everyone & materials with respect.
- Responsible: Try your best, ask questions, use feedback, and revise your thinking.
- Scientific Thinkers: Ask questions, use evidence, explain ideas, and communicate thinking.
Grading Policy
Tests/Labs (30%)
Major tests, IAs, labs, & projects.
Classwork (25%)
Daily work, notebooks, & mini labs.
Homework (25%)
Content review & daily practice.
Quizzes (20%)
Vocabulary, unit quizzes, & checks.
Your grade is your responsibility. Scientists stay organized, complete work, use feedback, and revise thinking.
Feedback & Corrections
PQ means work needs improvement. Corrections show revised thinking, not punishment. Corrections must be completed in a different color. Correct on the back if needed. Use feedback to revise your work.

Lab Safety
Follow directions the first time. Use materials responsibly. Wear safety equipment when directed. No food or drinks during labs. Unsafe behavior may lead to loss of lab privileges.
