FROM FLOWER TO FRUIT! ✿ How Pollinators Feed the Farm
Follow the 5 numbered steps to see how a hungry bee turns a flower into delicious food!
🌟 Did You Know? 1 out of every 3 bites of food we eat grew because a pollinator visited a flower!
Super Science Fact
The 5 Step Story: Flower to Table Look at the pictures! 👀
1
Flower Blooms!
The Invitation
Pollen
The farmer's plants bloom with bright, colorful petals. Flowers make sweet nectar and powdery yellow pollen dust to attract hungry insects!
🌸 Bright Colors = "Come eat here!"
2
Bee Gets Dusty!
The Drink
Dusty!
A fuzzy bee lands to sip sweet nectar. As it wiggles inside, powdery yellow pollen sticks to the bee's hairy legs and tummy like magic glitter!
✨ Yellow pollen hitchhikes on fuzzy bee hairs!
🐝 BZZZ! The pollinator flies to the next blossom looking for more nectar! 🌸
3
Pollen Delivery!
Sticky Transfer
Delivery!
The bee lands on a new flower. Pollen rubs off its fuzzy coat onto the sticky flower center (called the stigma). This is called cross-pollination!
🎯 Sticky flower center catches the pollen grains!
4
Fruit Starts Growing!
The Magic Swell
Fruit!
Now the flower is fertilized! The colorful petals wither and fall off. The bottom of the flower begins to swell into a fruit with baby seeds inside!
🌱 Petals drop off & the green berry swells!
5
Fresh Harvest for You & Me!
Delicious Result!
The produce grows juicy, colorful, and ripe in the warm sun. The farmer harvests boxes of fresh food for grocery stores, farm stands, and our school lunches!
Farmer's Rule: No Pollinators =
No Produce! 🍎
🔍 Picture Clue: What's Inside a Flower?

2. Sticky Center (Stigma):
Catches the pollen from the bee like a sticky glove.
3. Baby Fruit Pocket (Ovary):
Where seeds live. Swells into the big juicy fruit!
