1. The Hook (5 Mins)
Gather students in a circle. Look out the window together. Ask: "What does the sky look like today?" Let 3-4 students share. Sing a simple "Weather Song" (Tune: Farmer in the Dell) - "The sun is in the sky, the sun is in the sky, heigh-ho the derry-o, the sun is in the sky!"
2. Guided Exploration (15 Mins)
Use the Sky Spotters Slides to show different weather types.
Sunny: Discuss what we wear (sunglasses, hats).Cloudy: Look at cloud shapes (fluffy, flat, grey).Rainy: Discuss what sounds rain makes (pitter-patter).
3. Hands-on Experiment (15 Mins)
Rain Cloud in a Jar:
Fill jar 3/4 with water. Top with shaving cream "cloud".
Explain: "The cloud gets heavy with water."
Let students drop blue food coloring onto the cloud.
Watch the "rain" fall through the water!
4. Reflection (10 Mins)
Hand out the Daily Weather Tracker . Have students circle today's weather. Ask: "If you were a cloud, would you be a happy fluffy white cloud or a heavy grey rainy cloud today?"

The Secret!
The water is the air. The shaving cream is a fluffy cloud. The blue dye is the water vapor that turns into rain when it gets too heavy!
Step-by-Step Instructions

Fill your jar about 3/4 full with clear water.

Squirt a big fluffy cloud of shaving cream on top of the water.

Mix a little blue food coloring with water in a small cup. Use the dropper to add drops of rain to the top of the cloud.

Watch carefully! When the cloud gets too heavy, the blue rain will break through and fall into the water!
Talk About It:
"What happened when we added more and more blue drops? Did the cloud stay white or did it start to leak?"

1. The Hook (5 Mins)
Ask students: "Can you see the air?" (No). Give each student a small piece of paper or a paper fan. Ask them to wave it at their faces. "Now can you feel the air?" Explain that when air moves, we call it WIND .
2. Visual Discovery (15 Mins)
Show Moving Air Slides .
Wind: Look for clues that it's windy (trees bending, kites flying).Snow: Compare rain and snow. How does it feel? (Cold, soft).Sound: Practice making wind sounds (Whoooosh!).
3. Blow Painting Art (15 Mins)
Wind Art:
Place a few drops of watered-down paint on a paper.
Give students a straw and have them blow the paint around.
Explain: "Your breath is the wind moving the paint!"
4. Clothing Sort (10 Mins)
Hand out the Winter Wear Worksheet . Talk about what we need to stay warm in the snow. "Would you wear a swimsuit in the snow? Why not?"

The Science
Just like you moved the paint with your breath, the wind moves leaves, clouds, and even giant boats! The harder you blow, the faster the paint moves.
