"Everyone, look at this toy car. See its wheels? They are circles! What if I made these wheels into squares? Let's pretend. Put your hands out and show me a bumpy ride. Bump, bump, bump! Why do we want our wheels to be round instead of square?"
Guided Reading & Discussion
Slide 3-4 Focus:
Point to the road on the slide. "Where is the car? It's on the road! Land vehicles like cars and buses stay on the ground. Let's count the wheels on this car together. One... two... three... four!"
Slide 5 Focus:
"Look at the bus. Is it bigger or smaller than a car? It's much bigger! It needs big wheels to move all the people inside."
Feature Analysis Game
Ask students to stand up. "If I say a land vehicle that has wheels, pretend to drive! Vroom vroom! If I say something that isn't a land vehicle, freeze like an ice cube."

Provide physical toy cars for students to touch and count the wheels manually. Use hand-over-hand assistance for counting 1-4.
