What is Sound?
Vibrations
Sound is created when something moves back and forth very quickly. This movement is called a vibration .
Energy
Vibrations push molecules together and apart, creating a wave of energy that travels to your ear.
No Vibration = No Sound!
How Does Sound Travel?
Gases
Traveling through the air around us.
Liquids
Sound moves faster in water than in air!
Solids
Sound moves fastest through solid objects.

Gently strike the tuning fork on a rubber pad or your palm.
