Teacher Facilitation Guide: Global Orbit ISS

Objective
Students will research the International Space Station (ISS) and identify international contributions to space exploration, culminating in a "Passport Page" that details a specific agency's role in the mission.

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Warm-up (Slides 2-3)
Display the True/False questions. Have students stand for True and sit for False.

2. Video Focus (Slides 4-5)
Watch the Crash Course video. Pause at 1:57 to list the partners. Ask: "Why do you think it takes so many countries to build one station?" Discuss the size (football field) and cost ($150 billion).
3. Main Activity: ISS Passports
Divide the class into four groups: NASA (USA), Roscosmos (Russia), JAXA (Japan), and CSA (Canada). Students use tablets to find one major module or robotic contribution from their assigned country. They also find one famous astronaut from that nation.

Misconception Check
"The ISS just floats."
Clarify: It's falling toward Earth but moving sideways at 17,500 mph (Velocity) so it constantly misses. Use the "velocity + gravity" balance from the video.
"It's only for the USA."
Clarify: The station is modular. Without Russia's propulsion or Canada's robotic arm, it couldn't be built or maintained.
