Dear Community Foundation and Grant Evaluation Committee,
On behalf of Oakridge Academy, we formally submit this funding request to procure 65 enterprise-grade Chromebooks and mobile charging carts for our middle and high school students. In our community, equitable access to home and classroom computing is not a convenience—it is the foundational gateway to high-school graduation, STEM literacy, and career readiness.
The Digital Divide at Oakridge
Currently, 62% of our 480 enrolled students qualify for Free or Reduced-Price Lunch (FRPL), and an internal survey revealed that 38% lack a dedicated computing device outside of school hours. Students frequently complete complex assignments on mobile phones or miss deadlines due to shared family devices.
Project Overview & Core Educational Outcomes
The Laptop Lifeline Initiative provides 1:1 hardware checkouts, paired with cloud-based literacy interventions, coding curriculum, and college research access. With your partnership, we will achieve three core milestones:
Academic Growth
Targeting a 15% increase in math & reading proficiency via individualized adaptive platforms (Khan Academy, Lexia).
STEM & Career Prep
Full curriculum integration for introductory Python programming and digital media production across grades 7–10.
Equitable Access
A monitored overnight take-home loan program with integrated content filtering and offline-sync capabilities.

Device Security & Safety Protocol
Devices are protected with CIPA-compliant web filters active 24/7 both on-campus and at home. Loss tracking and tamper-proof asset tags ensure device retention.
Donor Recognition & Reporting
Donors receive a personalized mid-year impact report with student reflections, donor plaques on mobile carts, and acknowledgment on our district website and annual gala.

3. Student & Parent Device Care Agreement
Educational Use: The Chromebook is provided exclusively for schoolwork, educational research, and teacher communication.
Care & Protection: Device must remain in the protective case at all times. Keep food and liquids away from the keyboard.
Monitoring & Safety: CIPA-compliant school web filtering is active 24/7. No unapproved software or jailbreaking permitted.
Loss or Damage: Report any loss, theft, or physical defect to the IT Help Desk within 24 hours.
End-of-Year Return: Device and charging adapter must be returned in good working order at the close of the academic year.
