💡 COSMIC CONCEPT The startup idea's clarity & creativity
Super imaginative space idea that clearly solves a funny or real zero-gravity tourism problem.
Fun space tourism business idea that is easy to understand and has neat plans.
A simple business idea, but needs more space details or planning boost.
📐 STELLAR BLUEPRINTS Drawing details, labels, & logo brand
Beautiful blueprint drawing with 3 clear labels pointing to awesome features, plus a super neat logo.
Good sketch of their vehicle/resort, includes a couple of labels and a simple company logo.
A drawing is present but needs more details, labels, or a clearer logo sketch.
📢 MISSION PITCH Confidence, script reading, & teamwork
Spoke loud and clear like a ship captain, shared blueprint proudly, and worked perfectly together!
Spoke clearly so classmates could hear, showed their work, and took turns presenting.
Presented their work but spoke in a quiet whisper or struggled to share parts together.

5-Day Lesson Plans
Project Concept: Space Startups
The Galactic Launchpad unit introduces Grade 2 students to foundational startup business concepts: teamwork, design, value proposition, branding, and public speaking. By wrapping these in an exciting space-tourism theme, students stay highly engaged as they design rockets, celestial hotels, or moon bowling arenas!
The 5-Day Launch Sequence
DAY 1
Brainstorm Blastoff Explain "startups" using the toy store analogy. Read Launch Briefing, form crews, and brainstorm ideas.
DAY 2
Branding & Logo Design Crews select their best idea, design their corporate logo, pick a slogan, and name their mascot.
DAY 3
Drafting Blueprints Students draw a large blueprint of their spaceship or hotel, labeling 3 exciting zero-gravity features.
DAY 4
The Countdown Script Crews fill out the Galactic Pitch script and practice standing tall, smiling, and speaking clearly.
DAY 5
Mission Pitch Day! Class presentation circle. Teams deliver pitches; classmates cast star token votes; teacher grades.
Teacher Prep checklist
Print 1 Launch Briefing per student
Cut star-shaped tokens (Day 5 votes)
Print Worksheets (Brainstorm, Blueprint, Pitch)
Gather poster papers/crayons for blueprints

Pacing & Hacks
Detailed Pacing and Facilitation Guide
Day 1: Sparking Interest
Introduce the word Startup. Say: "If you want to sell a brand-new space toy, but don't have a giant factory, you build a small startup team to invent it!" Hand out the Launch Briefing, read together, and form co-founder pairs. Have students complete the Galaxy Brainstorm worksheet.
Day 2 & 3: Logo, Slogan, and Architectural Blueprints
Ensure each crew picks exactly ONE space idea (hotel, ride, or game). Assist groups in naming their business. Help them draw their blueprint schematic. Suggest features like: zero-gravity dining rooms, magnetic astronaut boots, or planet-view telescopes.
Day 4 & 5: Pitch Countdown & Showcase Orbit
Model a 30-second presentation. Have students read the fill-in-the-blank script aloud with partners. For Day 5, set the desks in a circle. Each team stands in the center to present. Hand classmates 2 "Star Tokens" each. Classmates vote for their favorites!
Co-Founder Management Hacks (Grade 2)
If co-founders argue over their startup direction, use a coin toss or combine ideas (e.g., a spaceship that has a pool on top and thrusters on bottom!).
