Iterative Engineering & Multicriteria Assessment
- Design & Refine Solutions: I can design, test, and iteratively refine a scientific, physical, or programmatic solution to mitigate an anthropogenic threat to regional biodiversity.
- Multicriteria Evaluation: I can evaluate competing ecological solutions using a decision matrix balancing environmental efficacy with economic, social, and cultural trade-offs.
Level 3: Strategic Evaluation (High) DOK Level 3
Systems Analysis & Systemic Feedback
- Efficacy Assessment: I can evaluate scientific evidence regarding the long-term success of existing conservation strategies (e.g., wildlife corridors, bioremediation) on ecosystem services.

Level 1: Recall & Foundational (Least) DOK Level 1
Identification & Basic Vocabulary
- Identify Drivers: I can identify and define the primary anthropogenic drivers of biodiversity loss (e.g., habitat loss, invasive species, pollution, overexploitation, climate change).
- Define Key Terminology: I can accurately define critical biological terms, including species richness, ecosystem resilience, biodiversity hot-spots, and critical ecosystem services.
Student Pathway
Begin at the bottom (Level 1) to build background vocabulary. Work upward to Level 4 (Engineering Design) to master standard HS-LS2-7.
Teacher Instruction
Utilize Levels 1 & 2 for foundational content delivery. Reserve Levels 3 & 4 performance tasks for authentic assessments and engineering cycles.
