What is a Biome?
A biome is a large area of land or water. Every biome has its own weather. It has its own plants and animals. Animals live where they can find food and water. Earth has many biomes for us to study.
Rainforest
Hot and Wet
It rains almost every day. Large trees grow very tall and close together. Monkeys and birds live high in the trees. This biome is very green.
Desert

Grassland
Open Space
There is a lot of grass but not many trees. Large, fast animals live in this wide area. Lions can be found hunting in the tall grass.
Ocean

Teaching Tips
Hi-Lo Strategy: Ensure the student knows the material is age-appropriate. Focus on the "scientific report" aspect rather than "learning to read."
Visual Support: Use the slides to point out visual cues (cactus for desert, blue for ocean) before reading the text.
Extension: Ask the student to pick one animal they like and research which biome it lives in.
