Engage students interactively using your pocket chart and matching cards. Have students participate in chants and point directly to the slides or flashcards.
Interactive Prompts:
• Chant: Invite students to join in an alphabet partner chant: "A is for Big! a is for Small! Put them together, we matching them all!"
• Interactive Match: Hold up uppercase card 'G' or display Slide 5. Ask: "Who can help me find the small lowercase g matching card?" Invite a volunteer to point to the correct option.
• Guided Questions to Ask: 1. "Is this letter big (uppercase) or small (lowercase)?" 2. "What letter matches uppercase G? Let's say its sound!" 3. "Can you trace lowercase g in the air with your pointer finger?"

Send students to work tables in pairs or independently. Provide them with standard **Magnetic Letter Sorting Mats** and a bucket of physical letters.
Magnetic Sorting
Students sort letters on the metal tray into the "Uppercase" bucket and the "lowercase" bucket. Encourage physical letter rotations to check alignment.

Students play in pairs using memory style card layouts. Turn over cards to find matching uppercase and lowercase partners. Prompts: "Find the small letter matching this big letter."
Students build their names using custom cardboard letter puzzles. Prompts: "Your special name always starts with a capital letter — that means uppercase! The others are small lowercase!"
Gather students back onto the rug for the read-aloud. As you read, pause on specific pages to highlight our letter partners.
👉 Pause at 'A b c' climbing: Ask: "Look! Are these uppercase or lowercase climbing up the coconut tree? How can you tell?"
👉 Pause at the 'Boom Boom' crash: Ask: "Look at the letters falling down. Do you see uppercase letters or lowercase letters helping them get up?"
