Lowercase Confusion (c vs o vs g): Remind students all three start with the "magic c" curve. c stays open, o closes up, g closes up and drops down with a hook.

Clean Continuous /f/: Produce pure friction: /ffffff/. Do not say /fuh/. Adding /uh/ turns fan into fuh-an (which sounds like two syllables).

Breathy /h/: /h/ is an unvoiced whisper of breath before a vowel. Have students feel the warm breath on their palm: hat, hot, him.

Crisp /b/ Stop: Remind students lips press firmly together and pop: /b/. Never add /uh/ (/buh/), or bat will become two beats.

4. _______________□ Yes □ Needs Time□ Clear □ Confuses□ ✓□ ✓Advance / Review

CKLA Decision Rule: Students with 3/3 accurate 3-phoneme segmentation are ready for blend introduction.
