If students struggle with 3-consonant blends, temporarily cover the third letter. Have them blend the initial two-letter blend first (e.g. blend /s/-/c/ to /sk/), then add the third (/r/ to make /skr/). Use visual gestures of drawing letters closer together.

Have advanced learners read multi-syllable words that incorporate these initial blends (e.g., scrabble, splitter, shrunken, threat ). Ask them to write down short sentences utilizing at least two different triple-blend target words!
