Benchmark: Kindergarten (Fall/Winter)
Objective 1.1: Grapheme ID
Given 26 letters, student produces initial phoneme with 95% accuracy within 3s per card across 3 probes.
Objective 1.2: Vowel & Consonant ID
Identifies short sounds for vowels (a, e, i, o, u) and high-frequency consonants with 90% accuracy.
Objective 1.3: Sound-Symbol Match
When given an isolated sound orally, student points to or writes the corresponding letter with 100% mastery on 20+ letters.

Blending Words & Continuous Decoding
Benchmark: Kindergarten (Spring) / Grade 1 (Fall)
Objective 2.1: Continuous Blending
Smoothly blends 3 phonemes without stopping between sounds (e.g., /s/-/a/-/t/ → "sat") with 85%+ accuracy.
Objective 2.2: Nonsense Words
Decodes 20 nonsense CVC words (e.g., "mip", "fot") demonstrating pure decoding at 30+ correct sounds/min.
Objective 2.3: Segment & Spell CVC
Segments spoken CVC words into individual phonemes and writes graphemes in sound boxes with 90% accuracy.

Digraphs & Consonant Blends
Benchmark: Grade 1 (Fall/Winter)
Objective 3.1: Digraph Decoding
Decodes words containing digraphs (sh, ch, th, wh, ck) in initial and final positions with 85% accuracy in text.
Objective 3.2: Consonant Clusters
Decodes 4-5 phoneme words with l-blends, r-blends, s-blends, and final blends (st, nd, mp) with 80%+ accuracy.
Objective 3.3: Cluster Discrimination
Accurately distinguishes between single-sound digraphs vs dual-sound blends (e.g., "chip" vs "slip") during phonemic tasks.

Vowel Patterns & Complex Spelling
Benchmark: Grade 1 (Spring) / Grade 2
Objective 4.1: CVCe Silent E
Reads long vowel split digraphs (a_e, i_e, o_e, u_e) and contrasts with short vowel pairs ("cap"/"cape") with 90% accuracy.
Objective 4.2: Vowel Teams
Decodes words featuring core vowel teams (ai, ay, ee, ea, oa, ow) and diphthongs with 85% accuracy in grade text.
Objective 4.3: R-Controlled Vowels
Recognizes and reads words with bossy r (ar, or, er, ir, ur) in word lists and decodable stories with 80%+ fidelity.
