Official Team SMART Goal Statement (CKLA Aligned)
By May 2027, through high-fidelity delivery of the Amplify CKLA Skills Strand (Units 1–10) and Knowledge Strand, 100% of Kindergarten students will demonstrate early literacy acceleration, achieving an overall grade-level net growth of +20 or more composite scale points from BOY baseline, with greater than 35% of all students scoring in the "Above Benchmark" tier on end-of-year reading assessments.
Core Quantitative Benchmarks & CKLA Targets
Target 1: Net Growth
+20 Pts
Average net composite point increase per student from BOY baseline to EOY CKLA/DIBELS benchmark.
Applies to 100% of Cohort
Target 2: Advanced Tier
> 35%
Proportion of students performing Above Benchmark, mastering CKLA Unit 10 decodables fluently.
Exceeding Grade Norms
Target 3: ARG Remediation
< 10%
Reduction of Intensive Support students via daily CKLA Assessment & Remediation Guide (ARG) routines.
High-Risk Mitigation
Cohort Progression Aligned with CKLA Kindergarten Units
| Assessment Window | CKLA Skills Scope | Key Focus Skills | Cohort Targets |
|---|
| BOY Baseline (Oct) | Units 1–2 | Environmental sounds, blending motions, initial letter tracking | Baseline established (12–15% advanced) |
| MOY Checkpoint (Jan) | Units 3–5 | Basic code sounds (/m/ to /k/), CVC blending, initial Tricky Words | +10.0 Pts gain (22–25% advanced) |
| Progress Check (Mar) | Units 6–8 | Decodable readers (Kit, Seth), digraphs, fluency chaining | +15.0 Pts gain (28–30% advanced) |
| EOY Benchmark (May) | Units 9–10 | Complex blends, double consonants, decodables (Sam, Ox and Man) | +20+ Net Pts & >35% Above Benchmark |

CKLA Tiered Instructional Architecture
Tier 1 Core Daily CKLA Skills (60 min) & CKLA Knowledge (45 min) All Students (100%)
• Skills Strand Warm-Up & Chaining (20 min): Daily phonemic awareness, Large Letter Card pocket-chart chaining, and student individual Chaining Folders.
• Code Knowledge & Handwriting (20 min): Multi-sensory letter strokes, Sound Posters, and teacher modeling on writing boards.
• Small Group Decodable Reading (20 min): Partner reading in CKLA Student Readers (Kit, Seth, Sam) with discussion questions.
• Knowledge Strand (45 min): Interactive Read-Alouds, Core Vocabulary cards, and comprehension discussions to fuel background knowledge.
Tier 2 Targeted Daily 30-Minute CKLA ARG & Advanced Extension Blocks Needs-Based Flexible Groups
• Advanced Enrichment Group (>35% Goal): CKLA Paired Decodable Readers, decodable text writing, and early exposure to CKLA Grade 1 Unit 1 advanced code to push beyond grade-level benchmarks.
• Targeted Support Group: CKLA Assessment & Remediation Guide (ARG) exercises—re-teaching specific missing sounds, Wiggle Cards, and pocket chart word building.
Tier 3 Intensive CKLA ARG Intensive Micro-Group (3:1, 20 Min Daily) High-Risk Learners (<10%)
• Specialist-led interventions utilizing CKLA ARG diagnostic code assessments, Elkonin sound boxes with tactile chips, and repeated 1-to-1 letter-sound fluency drills.
CKLA Assessment & Progress Monitoring Rhythm
CKLA End-of-Unit Checks Units 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
Assess letter-sound identification and word recognition. Students scoring below 80% immediately receive paired ARG reteaching modules.
Bi-Weekly mCLASS Probes Every Other Wednesday
Continuous monitoring of FSF, PSF, and NWF for Tier 2/3 students. Plot individual growth trajectories against the net +20-point target curve.
Monthly PLC Data Audits Monthly Grade-Level Meeting
Analyze CKLA Teacher Record Sheets. Reorganize Walk-to-Read small groups and calibrate decodable reader pacing across all classrooms.
CKLA Course-Correction Protocols
CKLA Unit Reteach Trigger: If >20% of a class struggles on an End-of-Unit sound-spelling assessment, pause pacing for a 2-day whole-group ARG review prior to introducing new code knowledge.
Advanced Pathway Acceleration (>35% Goal): Students testing at 95%+ on Unit 7 decodables advance to CKLA Grade 1 decodables (Gran) during small-group time to guarantee Above Benchmark status.
Kindergarten Team Commitment & Administrative Endorsement
By signing below, the Kindergarten team commits to implementing CKLA Skills and Knowledge with fidelity, utilizing the ARG for responsive intervention, and tracking data to achieve a net gain of +20 points and >35% above benchmark.
