1
Have you ever seen a happy, friendly dog with a shiny yellow coat and a wagging tail? It was probably a Golden Retriever! These cheerful dogs were first bred in the grassy hills of Scotland. Hunters needed a dog that could gently retrieve, or bring back, birds from land and water. Because they love fetching so much, they were named retrievers!
2
Golden Retrievers are famous for being wonderful family pets. Even though they can grow to be big, they are extremely gentle and patient with young children. They enjoy playing games of catch and cuddling on the rug. Golden Retrievers also adore water! They have special webbed paws and a water-resistant coat that keeps them warm while they splash and swim.
3
These golden dogs are not just playful—they are super smart! Because they love helping humans, many become guide dogs for people who cannot see. Others visit hospitals as calm therapy dogs to cheer up patients. With their loving hearts and eager minds, Golden Retrievers truly are one of the world’s best animal friends.
