Jake let the plane go. It sailed high past the tall stone gate . But a gust of wind made the plane shake and dip toward the cold water!
"Look out!" yelled Jake. "Who can catch it before it drops in the deep lake ?"
Brave Kate had on her skates . She had to skate fast down the lane . She made a quick chase and a brave jump. Kate caught the plane in her hands!

Gabe and Kate went on a hike by the big blue lake. They had a red bag with a sweet plum cake that Kate made on a hot plate.
"Look by the tall gate!" yelled Gabe. "Who is that on the stone?"
It was Drake, a green snake! Drake was not mean. He was a brave snake with a wide smile. Drake liked to bask in the warm sun by the lake.
"Who will give Drake some shade?" asked Kate. "The sun will bake his scales!"
Gabe took a wide leaf to make a safe spot for Drake. Drake did not run or chase them. He gave a soft wave and stayed in the cool shade.
"We made a new pal today," smiled Kate as they ate their cake by the gate.
