p ai n t
2. "spray" (4 phonemes)
s p r ay
3. "chain" (3 phonemes)

The Rainy Day Train
Read the story 3 times to build smooth fluency.
Track Reads:
1st ⭐️ 2nd ⭐️ 3rd ⭐️
It is a cold and rainy day. Ray and Fay sit by the glass. They see drops of rain hit the wet grass.
"Can we play in the yard?" asked Ray.
"No, you must wait," said Mom. "You may get soaked. But you may set up your toy train on the rug."
Ray got the black engine, and Fay laid out the long track. It ran like a trail around the big red couch. Next, Fay made a tiny depot out of gray clay. Ray made a green sign with paint.
"Choo-choo!" said Ray. "All aboard the fast train!" Ray and Fay had a blast. A rainy day can be a fun day to stay and play inside.
