Instructional Sequence & Prompts
1
Introduction & Shared Reading (5 Mins)
Read the introductory story dialog on Page 1 of the spread. Have children make puppy ears for Sam 🐶 and kitten whiskers for Mochi 🐱. Explain that Sound Town is home to special letters that team up.
2
The Visual Hunt & Safari (10 Mins)
Project the Sound Town Visual Spread or have children open their folders. Guide them to look at specific hotspots:
- The King's Crown (ING): "Can you make a king's wave? What letters are on his crown?"
- The Steam Train (CH): "How does the train speak? Make ch-ch-ch train wheel motions!"
- The Moon Balloon (OO): "What sound is hidden on the giant yellow moon balloon? Say oooo!"
3
The Secret Trail Investigation (5 Mins)
Challenge children to find the tiny, semi-hidden trace icons around the map: Spoon (oo), Chair (ch), Ring (ing), Sun (ss), and Thumb (th). Have them put on their virtual "binoculars" to find them.
4
Student Practice (10 Mins)
Distribute the Sound Town Explorer Worksheet. Guide them through the tracing lines, match-up, and bubbles. Focus on correct letter formation and oral sound generation.
