Decodable Reading Passage
Cole and Jade hike up Pine Hill. The sun is hot, but a cool breeze blows from the lake. Cole has a red pack with a map and a snack. Jade spots a green frog near a thick bush.
“Look at that trail,” Jade says. “The path winds past the big oak tree and goes to the old shed.”
Cole checks the map. “That trail leads to the boat dock,” he says.
As they step on the path, Jade sees a shiny brass box by a flat stone. Cole bends down to lift the lid. Inside is a note and a small silver bell! The note says, “Ring the bell to call the camp boat.”
Jade shakes the bell. A loud chime rings out across the lake. Soon, a green boat glides to the dock. Hank smiles and waves from the deck.
