1. Spot the 'ar' or 'or':
The vowel sound sticks directly to the 'r'. Don't separate them!
/ar/ opens wide like a doctor (f-ar-m ); /or/ rounds the lips (st-or-m ).
Scoop by syllable chunks: gar • den , morn • ing .
Smooth blending makes strong readers!

1. Rapid Recall "Speed Flash" (1 Min) Shuffle 15–20 cards. Flash each card for 2 seconds. Student reads word without sounding out individual letters. Set aside missed cards in a "Retry" pile for immediate review.
2. Category Sort & Justify Place sorting headers on the table. Give student 10 mixed cards. Student places each card under the correct header and verbalizes: "Cold has -old, so the vowel is long /ō/!"
3. Tactile Trace & Say (Spelling) Teacher reads card aloud. Student finger-traces the letters on a rough surface (sand tray, mesh screen, or desk) while naming each letter: "B - A - R - K, bark!"
4. Syllable Snip & Rebuild Have student physically cut 2-syllable cards along the division dot (e.g. mor • ning ). Mix up halves and challenge student to reassemble compounds and morphemes.
Printing Recommendation: Print on 65lb or 110lb cardstock; laminate for durability. Total Cards: 60 Word Cards + 8 Sorting Headers
