The Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef is a complex ecosystem located off the coast of Australia. Specifically, it consists of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands. Characteristics of this environment include warm, shallow waters and a diverse array of marine life. To illustrate, the reef is home to over 1,500 species of fish, including the clownfish and the giant grouper. Additionally, the reef features unique coral structures that provide protection for these species while also acting as a natural barrier for the shoreline.

The Rise of Renewable Energy
For decades, the global community relied almost exclusively on fossil fuels for electricity. However, the use of coal and oil led to significant environmental degradation and rising carbon levels. As a result, scientists began developing more sustainable alternatives, such as wind and solar power. Because renewable technology has become more affordable, many countries are now transitioning their energy grids. Consequently, carbon emissions in several major economies have begun to plateau or even decrease for the first time in a century.

Deep Sea vs. Space Exploration
Exploring the deep ocean and outer space both present extreme challenges for human technology. Similarly, both environments require specialized life-support systems to survive the lack of oxygen and extreme pressure or vacuum. In contrast, while space is vast and cold, the deep ocean is cramped and under immense crushing pressure. Furthermore, while we have mapped the entire surface of Mars, only about five percent of our own ocean floor has been explored with the same level of detail.
