The Unlucky Camping Trip
Name:

un Target Word Spotlight:
unlucky unpacked unzipped unsafe unhappy untangled
Tim felt like the most unlucky kid in the woods. When he and his dad set up camp by Pine Creek, heavy gray clouds rolled across the sky. The steep trail was muddy and unsafe for hiking, so they had to turn back early.
At the camp spot, the long tent ropes were twisted into tight knots. Tim worked patiently until he untangled every single line. Next, Dad unpacked the big green trunk and pulled out dry woolen blankets. Rain began to splash down, but Tim unzipped the tent flap quickly so they could jump inside.
Inside the shelter, it was warm and dry. Dad lit a small lantern and heated cups of sweet cider. Tim was no longer unhappy about the storm. What began as an unlucky day had turned into the best camping trip ever.

unlocked uncover unwrap unknown unseen unbroken
On a rainy Saturday, Jen and Max climbed up the wooden stairs into the attic. Dusty sunlight shone on old wooden boxes that had rested unseen for many years. In the back corner sat an iron trunk. Max touched the brass latch and gasped. The trunk was left unlocked!
"Let us lift the heavy lid and uncover what is inside," whispered Jen. They slowly pulled back a faded quilt to find an unknown parcel tied with golden twine. Jen helped unwrap the soft cloth to see what treasure lay hidden.
Inside sat an unbroken crystal prism that cast rainbows across the floor. Beneath it was Grandfather’s old compass, still pointing north. The children were thrilled to solve the mystery of the unlocked chest and bring the forgotten treasures back into the light.
