Decode and write words with the 'oo' digraph, distinguishing between /oo/ (soon) and /oo/ (book).

1 Warm-Up: The Sound Hunt (10 min)
Introduce students to their mission: They are Sound Scouts searching for the double 'o' sound.
"Scouts, look at the word 'moon'. Now look at 'foot'. They both have 'oo', but do they sound the same? Let's listen closely!"
- Display words on the board: moon, spoon, food (Long /oo/).
- Display words on the board: book, cook, wood (Short /oo/).
- Have students mimic the mouth shape for each sound.
2 Direct Instruction: Slide Sprints (15 min)
Use the Sound Scout Slides to model decoding. Practice "Segmenting and Blending" using the finger-tap method.

3 Guided Practice: Mystery Sentences (15 min)
Provide oral clues for sentences. Students identify the 'oo' word and help you write it on chart paper.
- "I used a metal utensil to eat my soup." (Spoon)
- "I need to read my favorite ______ before bed." (Book)
Writing Focus
Model capitalization and punctuation. Encourage students to "finger space" between words as you write.
4 Independent: Digraph Detective (20 min)
Hand out the Digraph Detective Worksheet. Students will:
- Match 'oo' words to illustrations.
- Sort words by their vowel sound (Soon vs. Book).
- Write original sentences using target words: pool, shook, tooth, wood.
