Scaffolding (Struggling Readers):
Provide physical elkonin boxes or color-coded tokens. Have students place tokens on top of the worksheet stars as they physically say the sound, then slide the letters together. If the student struggles with sentence composition, allow them to verbally tell you the sentence first, scribble a light yellow pencil guide for them to trace, or dictate a two-word sentence (e.g., "The flag is red").
Extension (High-Fliers):
Challenge students to incorporate two target words in a single sentence (e.g., "The flat ship went fast"). Ask them to write compound sentences using conjunctions (and, but, so), or write a continuous three-sentence story on a separate sheet using words they rolled. They can also mark other digraphs like "ck" or final consonant clusters.
