Story Time Fun November Tale
Barnaby was a plump turkey who lived beside Whispering Pines. Every November, when chilly winds began to whip across the farm, Barnaby got nervous. "It is time for a clever disguise!" he whispered with a silly grin. First, Barnaby tried to hide inside a thick pile of twigs and crisp red leaves. But his tail feathers stuck out five inches wide! A playful pig trotted past and grunted, "Nice try, Barnaby, but you cannot hide in twigs!"
Next, Barnaby spotted Mrs. Kline's clothesline flapping in the brisk breeze. He tried to slip into a shiny white knight costume. Clink! Clank! Zip! The tin helmet was a tight fit and slid right over his eyes. Barnaby tripped on a prickly vine and took a wild slide down the slippery hill. He spun in circles until—SPLAT! He landed right in Farmer Griffin's pumpkin patch.
Barnaby closed his eyes, expecting the worst. But Farmer Griffin just chuckled and smiled. "Silly bird, why are you dressed like a knight?" the farmer asked. He held out a giant slice of warm pumpkin pie. "At our farm, turkeys are invited to the November feast as guests of honor!" Barnaby let out a happy squawk, took a big bite of sweet pie, and decided it was the finest day of his life.
