The Rule:

The Rule:
Ends in a vowel. The vowel is usually long (it says its name).
Examples:

Silent E
The Rule:
Ends in vowel-consonant-e. The 'e' is silent and makes the first vowel long.
Examples:

Vowel Team
The Rule:
Contains two vowels next to each other that work together to make one sound.
Examples:
boat rain play green tea meat
R-Controlled
The Rule:
A vowel is followed by the letter 'r'. The 'r' controls the vowel sound.
Examples:
star bird horn fern surf yard
Consonant -le
The Rule:
Found at the end of multi-syllable words. It has a consonant followed by -le.
Examples:
apple bubble puddle little candle turtle
