A Morning at the Beach
Lila loved to visit the sandy beach on weekends. One sunny morning, she grabbed her plastic bucket and walked down the path with her little brother, Sam.
When they arrived, Lila spotted rows of colorful umbrellas and shiny blue waves. Sam knelt down and found a tiny hermit crab crawling on a wet rock.
Their neighbor, Mr. Davis, was already there sitting under his big blue umbrella. He smiled and handed each of them a shiny purple seashell. "Place these on top of your sandcastle," he said, "and it will look like a real palace."
Lila and Sam dug two deep trenches, built up the walls, and patted them gently with their hands. Then they placed the shells on the very top together. Walking home, Sam said it was the best morning he had ever had.
