Once upon a time in a sunny forest, a speedy Hare loved to brag. "No one can beat me!" he laughed, zooming past the others in a blur. "I am the absolute fastest animal here!"
The other forest animals were tired of his bragging. Finally, the slow and patient Tortoise stepped forward. "I challenge you to a race," she said calmly. The Hare roared with laughter. "You? Walk a race with me? This will be an easy win!"

He looked back and chuckled. "She is so slow! I have all the time in the world." Yawning, the Hare lay down in the cool grass beneath a large, shady oak tree. "I'll take a quick, cozy nap. I will still wake up and win easily!" He closed his eyes and fell fast asleep.

Step by step, she quietly passed the sleeping Hare. Suddenly, the Hare woke up! He bolted down the path, but it was too late. With a final, steady step, the Tortoise crossed the line first. The crowd cheered, "Hooray! Slow and steady wins!"
