Character File
Indirect Characterization reveals character traits through the S.T.E.A.L. strategy:
S Speech (Word choice & tone)
T Thoughts (Inner beliefs & feelings)
E Effects (Reaction of other characters)
A Actions (Behaviors & choices)
L Looks (Appearance & clothing)
Direct characterization tells outright. Indirect requires analysis.
Theme Cipher
The Theme is the universal life lesson or moral message. It is the deeper truth the author wants you to explore.
How to Decrypt Theme:
What does the main character learn as a result of the central struggle?
❌ Topic (1 Word) "Friendship"
✅ Theme (Message) "True loyalty lasts through dark times."
🔑 Theme is NEVER a single word!
Conflict Clash

System: Decoder Morphemes & Context
Context Clue Decryption (I.D.E.A.S.)
STATUS: ACTIVE
When encountering an unfamiliar word, do not shut down! Scan the surrounding sentences for these 5 types of context ciphers:
I
Inference Use general clues, logic, or schema to guess.
D
Definition The author explains the meaning directly.
E
Example Concrete cases are listed to illustrate.
A
Antonym The opposite meaning is presented nearby.
S
Synonym A similar word is used in the same context.
CONSOLE: search_surroundings() -> looking for "like," "such as," "but," "or," "however"
Morpheme Dissection
Words are built from modular blocks. Break them apart into logical components:
Prefix (Start)
Modifies meaning or direction.
un- (not) | re- (again)
Base / Root (Core)
Carries the primary semantic meaning.
struct (build) | bio (life)
Suffix (End)
Determines part of speech or tense.
-ology (study) | -ful (full of)
Over 60% of ELA words contain Greek or Latin roots!
Hacking Algorithm
Use this step-by-step pipeline when a complex multisyllabic word blocks your reading flow:
01
Isolate prefixes & suffixes Cover them up temporarily with your finger. Focus on the core base.
02
Chunk into Syllables Find the vowels. Break the word into small, soundable syllables.
03
Synthesize & Re-read Blend the sounds back together. Plug the meaning back into the sentence.
⚡ Decrypt words slice by slice!
Deconstruction Case Study
WORD: "UNCONSTRUCTIVE"
Prefix UN- meaning: NOT
Root CONSTRUCT meaning: TO BUILD
Suffix -IVE meaning: HAVING QUALITY OF
Synthesized SYNTHESIS "Not helping to build up"

Scientific Method Math & Science
The Investigation Core
Hypothesis PREDICTION
A testable explanation for a scientific phenomenon, based on observations.
IF [cause], THEN [effect] BECAUSE...
Variable CHANGE
Any factor, trait, or condition that can exist in differing amounts or types in an experiment.
INDEPENDENT
You manipulate
DEPENDENT
You measure
Scientific Method: Systematic observation, measurement, and experiment to formulate and test hypotheses.
Data Dimensions
Scientists and mathematicians split observations into two core types:
Quantitative Data NUMBERS
Data that can be measured or counted objectively using instruments.
E.g., "14.2 grams", "25°C", "5 bubbles"
Qualitative Data DESCRIPTIONS
Data that describes qualities, properties, or characteristics using the senses.
E.g., "blue liquid", "rough texture", "pungent smell"
Both types of data are vital for drawing robust conclusions!
Evidence & Analysis
Raw numbers and facts are useless without structured, logical processing:
Analyze (verb) To break down complex data into parts, identify patterns, relationships, or trends, and determine their meaning.
Evidence (noun) The objective body of facts, measurements, or observations that supports or disproves a scientific claim or hypothesis.
🔍 Claims without evidence are just opinions!
Theory vs. Theorem
Scientific Theory A Well-Substantiated Explanation
Explains why something happens in nature. Supported by huge bodies of empirical evidence. (E.g., Heliocentric Theory).
Mathematical Theorem A Proven Statement
Proved completely true using deductive logic, axioms, and formulas. Always 100% correct in its domain. (E.g., Pythagorean Theorem).
The STEM Paradigm: Science explains the physical universe; Mathematics provides the language and proofs.
