DETECTIVE DICTIONARY
Core Concepts
1. The Topic
The general subject. Usually only 1 or 2 words.
Example: "Honeybees"
2. Main Idea
The big point the author makes about the topic. A full sentence.
Example: "Honeybees are crucial helpers for nature."
3. Details (Clues)
Specific facts or stories that prove the Main Idea.
Example: "They carry pollen to grow new fruits."
Remember: The Details hold up the Main Idea like table legs! Slide 3 of 7
