In this lesson, students adopt the role of "Argument Architects." They move from the abstract idea of "having an opinion" to the concrete skill of "building an argument." By using an architectural metaphor—Thesis as Foundation, Claims as Support Columns, and Evidence as Reinforcements—students learn that an argument’s strength lies in its internal logic and evidentiary support, not just the volume of its voice.

Project keywords: Debatable, Fact, Claim, Counter-Argument, Evidence, Logic, Rebuttal, Thesis. Students group them into "Structural Elements" vs. "Reinforcements."

Modeling the Blueprint (15 min)
The teacher models the deconstruction of the "Screen Time" exemplar. Think-aloud: "I see a claim here about sleep. Where is the 'steel' that reinforces it? Ah, here is the study about melatonin levels." Show how the thesis anchors every paragraph.

Co-Constructing a Claim (15 min)
Class works together to build one "Support Column" for a shared topic (e.g., School Uniforms). The teacher provides the claim; the class hunts for or brainstorms the specific evidentiary reinforcements using the slide deck guide.
