Syntax Syndicate Parts of Speech Review

A spy-themed 4-day parts of speech review sequence for 6th and 7th graders. Students become secret agents in the 'Syntax Syndicate', cracking codes and completing missions to master nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections, culminating in a collaborative classroom escape room.

The Core Engine

Day 1 of the Syntax Syndicate review. Students are inducted as Secret Agents and master the 'Core Engine' of sentences: nouns (common, proper, abstract, collective), pronouns (subject, object, possessive, reflexive), and verbs (action, linking, helping).

The Modifier Mission

Day 2 of the Syntax Syndicate review. Secret Agents analyze 'The Modifier Mission' to master the elements that add detail and precision: adjectives (descriptive, demonstrative, proper) and adverbs (manner, time, place, degree).

The Connector Cabal

Day 3 of the Syntax Syndicate review. Secret Agents trace sentence connections in 'The Connector Cabal' to master prepositions (spatial, temporal), conjunctions (coordinating, subordinating), and interjections (expressive markers).

The Grand Escape

Day 4 of the Syntax Syndicate review. Secret Agents combine all their skills for the 'Grand Escape Room' challenge, using a series of group puzzles and codex wheels to crack the final syndicate lock and complete their training.
